When to Use Each WooCommerce Editor
Quick Edit exists specifically for speed on small, common changes — adjusting a price, updating stock, changing status — without the overhead of loading the full product editing screen. It deliberately doesn't expose everything, since doing so would defeat its purpose as a fast, lightweight tool; anything not in its limited field set requires opening the product fully.
What's Only Available in Full Edit
- Description and short description content aren't editable via Quick Edit, requiring the full editor's content areas.
- Images and the product gallery can only be managed in the full editor, not through Quick Edit's limited field set.
- Attributes and variations for a variable product need the full editor's dedicated tabs, well beyond what Quick Edit's inline panel could reasonably expose.
- Shipping-specific data (weight, dimensions, shipping class) similarly lives only in the full editor.
- Linked products (upsells, cross-sells, grouped product associations) require the full editor's Linked Products tab.
Choosing the Right Tool
- Use Quick Edit for fast, common field changes across one or a few products.
- Use bulk edit (covered elsewhere) for the same common fields across many products at once.
- Use the full editor for anything beyond Quick Edit's limited scope — content, images, variations, shipping data, linked products.
