Why Can't a Customer See Their WooCommerce Subscription?
Why This Happens
A subscription is linked to a specific WordPress user account at the time it's created. If checkout happened as a guest, WooCommerce typically creates an account automatically using the email provided — but if the customer later logs in with a different email, or a separate account already existed under a slightly different address, the subscription won't show up because it's tied to a user ID the customer isn't currently logged in as.
Common Causes
- Guest checkout created a separate account from the one the customer normally uses to log in.
- Duplicate accounts with slightly different email addresses (a typo, a work vs. personal email, or a re-registration after forgetting a password).
- The My Account subscriptions endpoint isn't rendering at all, the same underlying cause as a missing cancel or payment-method option — worth ruling out before assuming it's an account-matching issue.
- The subscription was created by an admin manually and linked to the wrong customer record.
- Caching serving a stale version of the My Account page to a logged-in customer, showing content from before the subscription existed.
How to Fix It
- Look up the subscription directly in WooCommerce → Subscriptions admin by the customer's email or name, and check which user account it's actually linked to.
- Compare that to the account the customer says they're logged into — a mismatch here confirms the cause immediately.
- Re-link the subscription to the correct account from the subscription's admin edit screen if a mismatch is found, rather than asking the customer to somehow find their other account.
- Rule out a caching issue by checking the My Account page as that specific logged-in customer, ideally in a private browsing window, to bypass any cached anonymous version.
- If the My Account subscriptions section is missing for every customer, that's a page-setup problem, not an individual account issue — check the endpoint configuration the same way as for a missing cancel option.
