Why Isn't the WooCommerce Shipping Calculator Showing?

Where the WooCommerce Calculator Comes From

WooCommerce's shipping calculator is an optional feature specifically for the cart page (separate from the checkout page's own address-based shipping calculation), and its visibility is controlled by a dedicated setting rather than being tied directly to whether shipping zones are configured at all.

Common Causes of a Missing Calculator

  • The calculator setting simply disabled under Settings → Shipping → Calculations, the most direct and common cause.
  • A custom or heavily modified cart page template from the active theme not including the calculator's template hook or shortcode/block output correctly.
  • Page caching showing a stale version of the cart page from before the setting was enabled.
  • A cart page built with a page builder that replaced WooCommerce's default cart shortcode/block output with a custom layout missing the calculator entirely.

How to Restore the Calculator

  1. Check Settings → Shipping → Calculations and confirm the cart page calculator is enabled.
  2. Clear any caching after enabling the setting.
  3. Confirm the cart page uses the standard WooCommerce cart shortcode or block, rather than a fully custom rebuild missing this feature.
  4. Test with a default WordPress theme temporarily if a theme conflict is suspected.

Narrowing it down

  1. Confirm the cart-page setting. The calculator is a cart-page feature controlled by its own option in the shipping settings. Without it, the cart shows only what the checkout would calculate later.
  2. Check that shipping applies to the cart at all. If the cart contains only virtual products, or no shipping zone matches, there is nothing to calculate and the calculator won't show.
  3. Check which cart you have. The classic cart shortcode and the cart block present shipping differently. After switching one for the other, the calculator can appear in a different place or in a different form.
  4. Test with the default theme. A custom cart template that doesn't output the shipping section will hide the calculator even when the setting is on.

If you only want an estimate

Where the calculator is awkward on your theme, an alternative is to let shoppers enter a postcode at the top of the cart and calculate once, or simply to show shipping at checkout and state your delivery costs and regions on a dedicated page. Which is best depends on how much your shipping varies.
