How Role Manager Works

The Role Manager screen lists every WordPress user role and lets you toggle Elementor editor access for each individually. A role denied access simply won't see the "Edit with Elementor" option at all, and attempting to access the editor URL directly redirects them back to the standard WordPress editor instead, without affecting that role's other normal WordPress permissions.

Common Reasons to Restrict Access

• Client sites with a Contributor or Author role intended only for writing blog content, not restructuring page designs.
• Agency or team setups where junior team members shouldn't have unrestricted design access to production pages.
• Preventing accidental layout changes from someone who only needs to update text content occasionally, reducing the risk of an unintended design break.
• This controls editor access only, not finer-grained permissions like which specific pages a role can edit — that level of control needs a separate, more advanced permissions plugin.

Setting This Up

1. Go to Elementor → Role Manager in the WordPress admin.
2. Toggle Elementor editor access for each role according to who should actually have design-level control.
3. Consider a dedicated permissions plugin if finer-grained, per-page restriction is needed beyond role-level access.
