Why Isn't My Elementor Form Sending Email Notifications?
Why This Happens
WordPress's default mail function relies on the server's own mail configuration, which many hosts either don't properly configure for reliable outbound delivery or which gets flagged as spam by receiving mail servers due to missing authentication (SPF, DKIM). This is a deliverability issue independent of Elementor itself — the form widget correctly triggers the send, but the actual email never reliably arrives.
Common Causes
- No SMTP plugin configured, leaving WordPress to rely on its unreliable default mail sending method.
- The Email action missing or misconfigured in the form widget's Actions After Submit settings — this needs to be explicitly added, it isn't automatic.
- The notification email landing in spam due to missing SPF/DKIM authentication for the sending domain.
- A typo in the recipient email address configured in the form's Email action settings.
- A conflicting security or firewall plugin blocking outbound mail-related requests at the server level.
How to Fix It
- Confirm the Email action is added and correctly configured in the form's Actions After Submit settings, including the recipient address.
- Install and configure a proper SMTP sending plugin, using a real transactional email service rather than the server's default method.
- Check the spam folder and set up SPF/DKIM records for the sending domain.
- Review the form's submission log (if available) to confirm submissions are actually being received server-side.
