Something broke on your WordPress site. Find it here.

A library of the WordPress problems people actually search for at 2am — white screens, 500 errors, a checkout that stopped taking orders, an editor that won’t open. Real diagnostic steps, not a list of plugin recommendations. If your exact case isn’t here yet, send it to me directly.

HOW TO USE THIS

Find the symptom, not the guess

Most WordPress advice starts from a cause — “how to fix a plugin conflict” — when what you actually have is a symptom: a blank page, a spinning editor, a checkout that silently stopped working. Each guide below starts from what you’re actually seeing on screen, explains why it happens, and walks through diagnosing and fixing it before it tells you when it’s worth handing over to someone else.

Site is down or showing an error

The four ways WordPress fails completely — and they are not the same problem, even though they can look similar at first glance.

“There Has Been a Critical Error on This Website”

WordPress’s own fatal-error screen, with its recovery-mode email link. Different from a blank page or a raw 500 — guide in progress.

WordPress Showing a 500 Internal Server Error

A server-level failure, usually .htaccess corruption, a PHP-FPM crash, or a memory ceiling — guide in progress.

WordPress Site Not Loading At All

DNS, hosting, SSL or a connection timeout before WordPress even runs — guide in progress.

CATEGORY

Design and page builder problems

The site is technically up, but it doesn’t look or behave the way you built it.

WordPress Site Loading Without CSS (Styling Missing)

The page renders as unstyled HTML — a stylesheet failed to load, was blocked, or is being served with the wrong MIME type. Guide in progress.

Plugins, features and checkout

Something specific used to work, and now it doesn’t — usually right after an update.

How to Find and Fix a WordPress Plugin Conflict

A structured way to isolate which of your plugins is actually responsible, without guessing or deactivating everything at once. Guide in progress.

WooCommerce Checkout Not Working (Orders Failing)

Customers reach checkout and the order never completes — payment gateway, caching or a plugin conflict at the exact moment it matters most. Guide in progress.

CATEGORY

Slow, or locked out entirely

The site is up for visitors, but working in it has become the problem.

WordPress Admin Dashboard Running Painfully Slow

The front end is fine but wp-admin crawls — usually a database, cron or plugin problem specific to the admin side. Guide in progress.

Can’t Log Into WordPress Admin (wp-admin)

Wrong password loops, a redirect back to the login screen, or a white page after logging in. Guide in progress.

Don’t force-fit your problem into the wrong guide

This library is being written guide by guide, so there’s a good chance your exact symptom isn’t here yet, or your case turns out to be two problems stacked on top of each other. Describe what’s happening, or paste the error text, and I’ll tell you directly what’s likely going on — you don’t need a matching article to reach out.

FAQ

About this library

My problem isn’t listed here yet — what should I do?

This library is being built out guide by guide, so not every WordPress problem has a page yet. Send me a description of what’s happening (or a screenshot of the error) through the contact page and I’ll tell you directly what’s likely going on — you don’t need a matching article to reach out.

Are these guides written for developers or regular website owners?

Website owners first. Each guide explains what’s actually happening in plain language, then gives the technical steps for anyone comfortable with FTP or wp-admin. If a step needs a developer, the guide says so rather than assuming you’ll manage it.

Do I have to pay to use these fixes?

No. Every guide is free to read and use on your own site. If you’d rather not do it yourself, or the fix doesn’t hold, that’s when it makes sense to send the site over.

What if I try the steps and the site is still broken?

That usually means the cause is more layered than a single guide can cover — two conflicts stacked on top of each other, or a server-level setting only your host can change. At that point, send me what you tried and what happened, and I’ll take it from there.
