How Do I Duplicate a WooCommerce Product?
How to Duplicate a WooCommerce Product
On the Products admin list, hovering over any product reveals row actions including "Duplicate" alongside Edit and Trash — clicking it immediately creates a new draft product with (almost) everything copied from the original, ready to open and adjust before publishing.
What Carries Over and What Doesn't
- Description, short description, images, attributes, categories, and most settings all copy over directly, making this genuinely useful as a starting template for a similar new product.
- The SKU is intentionally left blank on the duplicate, since SKUs must be unique and copying it directly would create a conflict — a new SKU needs to be manually assigned.
- Reviews and sales/order history don't carry over, since the duplicate is a genuinely new, separate product with no history of its own.
- The new product is created as a Draft, not automatically published, giving a chance to review and adjust everything (title, price, images, SKU) before it goes live.
Using This Feature Well
- Use Duplicate as a starting point for a new product genuinely similar to an existing one, saving setup time.
- Always assign a new, unique SKU to the duplicate before publishing.
- Review every field carefully before publishing, since it's easy to overlook something that should differ from the original (a unique description detail, a different price).
